Future Plan
Educating and Empowering Farmers in India
Process- Proceeds are collected and donated directly to the farmers back in Punjab, India
Punjab produces heavy volumes of Rice and Wheat, requiring tons of groundwater, causing irrigation stresses in Punjab and all over India. Proceeds will be used to provide financial assistance to the farmers in Punjab, India, which will help them cultivate different crops that require less water and help restore the fertility of the soil.
Some research suggests that water in SW Punjab is highly contaminated with Uranium and other heavy toxins, which may be the leading cause of high cancer rates in the region. Some parts of India may also face drought issues in the near future. Read here
We plan to work with the local Authorities (Sarpanchs) and provide direct assistance to the villages. We will adopt a family/families and help them finance different crops requiring less groundwater. Swapping crops could save water, improve nutrition and reduce health issues like cancer.
Our Plan also includes providing direct assistance to the farmers addressing issues including debt, cost of seeds and fertilizers, equipment, water issues, technology, education, and awareness about framers’ suicide. Proceeds collected will assist the families of the victims and fund a sustainable means of livelihood.
Our work with local authorities is in progress and we will update this page once we have initiated this process.
